The Awana children's program is for children ages preschool through 6th grade. Participants meet Sunday afternoons in the Family Life Center from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. during the school year to learn how God can change lives throughout the world and in their heart. The meetings consist of three main segments: Game Time (challenging physical activities), Handbook Time (when children memorize bible verses), and Council Time (when they learn important lessons about God).
The Awana program offers a clear presentation of the gospel, Bible memory, purposeful games and leadership training. The curriculum is targeted to specific age groups with the goal of immersing children in solid foundational teaching that leads from awareness to salvation, evangelism and leadership.
- Cubbies - The program for preschoolers offers games, puppets, crafts, awards and other activities in which fun and learning go hand in hand. Friendly characters, Bible-centered handbooks and club activities help children begin to build a solid understanding of the basics of Christianity at an early age. The program encourages the active participation of parents, the primary source of spiritual nurturing. Parents work with their children on weekly handbook lessons. In two years, Cubbies will learn approximately 55 memory verses, key basic truths and the gospel message.
- Sparks - Children in kindergarten through second grade attend the Sparks program. This club builds upon the foundation from the preschool club and takes youngsters a step deeper into God's Word while giving unsaved children regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. Like all Awana programs, the Sparks program is firmly grounded in Scripture. Its handbooks explore basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation and the Bible. In three years, participants will learn and review 68 verses. Each club meeting features bible teaching, worship, award presentations, the gospel message, small group interaction, Bible-based lessons and age-appropriate games.
- Truth & Training - Boys and girls in third- through sixth-grade learn the truth of God's Word and are trained to follow Christ in their daily lives. The Truth & Training program trains tomorrow's church leaders today using handbooks, fun characters, a Bible-centered curriculum and interactive CDs. By the end of the program, participants will have learned over 300 verses and completed missions projects.
